Quick and Easy Date Bars

If you like dates, you will love this healthy bar made with rich almond butter.  Dates are a good source of fiber, potassium and selenium along with other polyphenols.  Almonds are also well known for many health benefits, including heart healthy vitamin E, calcium, and magnesium.

1 cup whole wheat pastry flour

1/3 cup sugar or sugar substitute
½ cup almond butter
2 tablespoons honey
3/4 cup minced dates
½ cup fat free or low fat milk.

Mix all ingredients to make into stiff batter; press into 8”x8” baking pan that has been coated with cooking spray. Bake in 350 degree oven for 25 minutes.  Can also add ½ cup chopped nuts to the batter if you like.
